International Photo Contest 2011

Through the Lens of Human Right GLOBAL WORLD...

To honour this year’s Human Rights Day, Ekvilib Institute and its partner SPP Institute for the Promotion of Photography are inviting you to participate in the international photography contest 2011.

PHOTO:

The prize for the winning photo or photo story is 2000 EUR to be used to support author’s next human rights photo project.

Photos should not be older than 3 years (taken 2007 at the latest). You can submit a one photo or o a photo story (min. 3 max 6 photos).

Your photo relates to the initiative the Global World: Through the Lens of Human Rights.

JPEG, PNG, GIF or TIFF are accepted.

ELIGIBILITY:

you are at least 18 years or older.

HOW TO APPLY:

Vital Voices - Apply Now

Women’s Issues program seeks to empower communities to influence decision makers and have a tangible effect on policy and legislation that each community believes is crucial in their own environment. The program will bring together teams of five people from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Lebanon to advocate for women’s issues in their communities.

Each PPP team should include people from the private sector (business) and the public sector (local civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, or government agencies). One of the public sector participants must work for a local organization that would be willing to host the PPP team.

Individuals should also have the following qualities:

• A history of advocating for, supporting, or an interest in supporting women’s causes
• A desire to be involved in advocating for women’s issues after the close of the program
• Motivation to be “change-makers” in their communities
• Experience in developing communication strategies
• Program management experience
• Willingness to train others based on the experience gained during this program

Generally, participants should show that they are motivated to advocate for women’s issues in their own communities, and that they are willing to continue to pass on their knowledge and skills to others in future related projects or campaigns. Participants should also be willing to invest about five hours each week to this project; the exact time commitment will be decided once the teams have been formed. The team lead will need to devote more time to the project in order to lead and monitor the activities of the team.
